    Hey I have really been enjoying this video, even a couple years late. I am having trouble with the Description Box animation. It keeps showing up under the black 'haze' layer. at about 1:04:43 in the video. I am a total beginner. Any help? I feel like I have matched the rest of the code perfectly.

      Well, after struggling all day, and just after sending this message; I found 'a' solution. I set the layer depth at -200 (for my target layer) and the sprite showed up on top.

      @@peterdarrouzet2779 Beginner as well following this tutorial: I've found that sequences are really annoying when it comes to depth sorting, having to make another layer feels like a janky solution to a simple problem. It also doesn't draw on the camera, but on the actual room (which is fine if your game pauses during menu selection, but it would be nice if it were consistent with the other parts of the menu). I'll come back to your comment if I find any improvements with managing the sequence within the menu system. Sorry I can't be of any help!

    I found this to be really helpful but I want to suggest a change. Instead of using a while loop, I found that using a for loop that runs some arbitrary number of times is a better idea. It won't lock up if the collision suddenly become impossible, or you did something wrong with your code so that the while loop never completes. With a for loop, the worst that can happen is the collision doesn't completely touch what it is supposed to. It's better than being locked. I avoid using while loops whenever I can.

    Quick question! Is there any reason why adding: if camera_get_view_x(mycam) == targetX and camera_get_view_y(mycam) == targetY { [Insert Code here] } at the bottom of your step event wouldn't work? I tried this on my end and double checked the commands in the manual, but it never returns true.

    How can I make it so an alarm starts counting down after a collision? In my game I want a sprite to freeze for about 2 seconds after colliding with a certain object, but I want the alarm to unfreeze the object after those 2 seconds.

    Great video. Super helpful. When you are implementing the ailments section make sure to have the if statement set to if(ailment[i] == Ailment.Confused) instead of if(i == Ailment.Confused. Otherwise you are not comparing the array to the obj variables.

    Totally dumb question, but I noticed you wrote "myFirstName" as the variable with that specific capitalization choice. I'm just wondering, why not "MyFirstName" or even just "myfirstname"? Again, probably another arbitrary thing, but I just wanted to ask. Thanks!

    I used this tutorial in two of my projects and it cames out that it works but targetX and targetY are working strange and I don't know how to fix it; the player will be teleported in total different side of the room from the x and y I've setted. I also tried to cange the X and The Y slowly to reach a position that would work for me but it doesn't move

    I came here to hopefully learn something new about tricks for top-down shooters, but I realized when you struggled to just use an alarm that wasn't going to happen. BTW, you don't need alarms. This is better.     What??? Who doesn't knows basic use of programs, so that he shouldn't use gamemaker or another game engine. This is very basic knowledge of computer skills. Maybe I'm old, but I remember times when everything was more difficult and everything I needed I've maked from scratch. This video can be apply for 99% users and programs nowadays. BTW your channel is otherwise great. :-)
